A journey back to the stage
with Maryam's guidance
Maryam directed and coached me in creating and performing my solo theater piece ‘Out of the Shadow of Fame’ and my poetry performance ‘The Wise, Wild Woman’.
After a successful career as an actress, I hadn’t been on stage for 10 years because I had lost all my joy in performing. Returning to the stage was very exciting for me. Maryam supported me so lovingly in my personal process that I found the courage to step back into the spotlight. She emphasized my strengths, which gave me renewed confidence. Fueled by her enthusiasm and through truly playing, experimenting, and exploring together, I rediscovered my joy. Maryam managed to turn my performance engine back on.
Maryam is a coach, director, and dramaturg all in one. She has an impeccable intuition for what works. She has a keen eye for where the drama and humor lie in a piece and how to bring them out powerfully and subtly. And—perhaps most importantly for me—I felt safe with her. Safe to show both my strength and vulnerability to an audience. Safe to play freely and joyfully once again.
